The Conservative Baptist Network rejoices in and thanks God for the decision by the United States Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey — decisions that have tragically allowed the slaughter of more than 63 million children in the United States since 1973. Today’s 6-3 decision constitutes a major win for the sanctity of human life as the Court affirmed there is no right to abortion in the U.S. Constitution.

As the Court noted June 24, decisions about abortion will now return to “the people and their elected representatives.” State-by-state, Christians must lead the way in appealing to the 14th Amendment and recognizing the personhood of infants in utero so that no person in America is deprived of Constitutional rights merely because he or she has not yet been born. The Conservative Baptist Network encourages Southern Baptists to support efforts in their respective states to pass legislation that recognizes the value and the sanctity of human life and affords every person the rights enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. As people who believe that God is the author, creator, and sustainer of life, that He has a plan for every person His hands have formed in the darkness of the womb, and that He loves each of those people so much that He sent His own Son to save them from their sins, we urge Southern Baptists to act as living testimonies to those truths in their own communities (Gen. 1:27, Acts 17:28, Jer. 29:11, Jer. 1:5, Ps. 139:13-14, Jn. 3:16, Acts 1:8, 2 Cor. 3:2-3).

Please join us in prayer that state legislators will act valiantly to defend life (1 Cor. 16:13, Prov. 31:8), that parents and their babies will find compassionate support from the body of Christ and crisis pregnancy centers around the nation (Phil. 2:4, Gal. 6:2, 1 Jn. 3:17, Eph. 4:32, Col. 3:12), and that the culture of death in America will itself continue toward its demise as the darkness gives way to the radiant and redemptive light of Jesus Christ (Jn. 1:5).

We praise God for this historic day and this victory for life.

“All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
