The North Carolina State Chapter is a state affiliate of the national Conservative Baptist Network formed in February 2020 to bring positive, biblical solutions that strengthen the SBC in an effort to fulfill the Great Commission and influence culture.

Pastor Stoney Benfield was born and raised in the foothills of North Carolina and received his call to the ministry in 1996. He has served as the Senior Pastor of Prospect Baptist Church since 2005. Benfield has a passion for preaching and evangelism, a heart for pastors, and takes an uncompromising stand on the Word of God. As a committed Southern Baptist, his desire is to see the local church proclaim the name of Jesus Christ and be equipped to carry the gospel to the lost.

Timmy Blair serves as the pastor of Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church in Angier, NC. He is a two-time graduate from Luther Rice Seminary. Blair has served in various state convention roles including president of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (2015-2016), president of North Carolina Pastor’s Conference (2017), and on the Board of Directors. He is married to Wendy. They have two sons and they have five grandchildren.

Mark Caldwell serves as pastor of Turkey Creek Baptist Church in Leicester, NC. Born and raised in Haywood county where he married Lynn Mills Caldwell in 1984, Caldwell and his wife have three children: Faith, Cameron, and Heidi, who is spending eternity with her Lord. Pastor Caldwell loves hunting and camping with his family. Family, Caldwell says, is his greatest ministry.

Timothy Cook serves as pastor of Forest Hills Baptist Church in Burgaw, NC. He is a graduate from Charleston Southern University and attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to serving as a pastor, Cook served in the U.S. Air Force as a Law Enforcement Specialist. Cook is married to Robin; they have three children and one grandchild.

Davis Hooper serves as the pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Franklin, NC. He has served in various roles in the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. Hooper is a graduate from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Along with being a pastor, Davis is a chaplain for the local fire department and police department.

Neal Jackson serves as pastor of Beulah Baptist Church in Bennett, NC. He is the third generation of preachers to be driven by the mandate of taking the gospel to the world. Prior to serving in NC, Jackson served churches in Georgia and Florida. He is married to Tracey, and they have five children: David, Victoria, Reagan, Aiden, and Hayden.

Ken Jones serves as the intentional transitional pastor at Friendship Baptist Church in Jefferson, NC. He has served in various churches throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida, as well as in denominational roles. He is currently chairman of the board of directors at Fruitland Baptist Bible College and has also served on the executive committee of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. Jones also serves as a volunteer fire department chaplain and a volunteer chaplain for the high school football team. Jones and his wife, Margie, have two children and four grandchildren.

Eddie Powers serves as pastor of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church in Monroe, NC. He graduated from Fruitland Baptist Bible College (1992). Prior to serving as a senior pastor, Powers served local churches as a youth pastor for nine years. He is married to Kelly; they have two children and one grandson.

Tim Sims serves as the Lead Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Shelby, NC. He is a graduate of Northeastern Illinois University and Andersonville Theological Seminary. Sims has served on several ministry boards and is involved with leading mission endeavors. He is married to Angela. They have three children and four grandchildren.
North Carolina pastors launch Conservative Baptist Network state chapter
BOSSIER CITY, La.– Today the Conservative Baptist Network announces the launch of its North Carolina state chapter. With more states soon to launch, the Network continues to expand as a localized, grassroots effort.
Leading the North Carolina chapter as a lead state coordinator is Stoney Benfield, pastor of Prospect Baptist Church in Albemarle, N.C.
