The Florida State Chapter is a state affiliate of the national Conservative Baptist Network formed in February 2020 to bring positive, biblical solutions that strengthen the SBC in an effort to fulfill the Great Commission and influence culture.

Larry Brister currently serves at Immanuel Baptist Church in Fort Lauderdale as senior pastor. He served in every ministry in the church — greeter, usher, Sunday school teacher, deacon and head of deacons — before being called to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. With a passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ and the perfect, inerrant Word of God, Brister believes strongly in the teaching of God’s people through the exposition of His Word.

Palm View First Baptist Church
Jonathan Elwing serves at Palm View First Baptist in Palmetto as senior pastor and is committed to the preaching and teaching of the inerrant Word of God. Having served several churches over the past 21 years of gospel ministry, he has a heart to serve and encourage other pastors. A graduate of Liberty University, Elwing also serves Florida Baptist Disaster Relief and the North American Mission Board as a Disaster Relief Chaplain. He and his wife, Krystal, have been married 14 years, have 3 children, and are state licensed foster parents.

As senior pastor of Fellowship Church in Immokalee, Fla., Timothy Pigg is committed to text-driven preaching, evangelism, and discipleship. A conservative Southern Baptist, Pigg has served in a variety of roles with the Florida Baptist Convention and has been a featured speaker on multiple panels and at evangelism conferences. Having served several churches, Timothy champions the high calling of the pastor and believes that the most pressing issues facing communities and the nation are solved through the ministries of a local church functioning biblically. Pigg holds a doctoral degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

Geoff Prows serves currently as the senior pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Baker, Fla. Not only has he served as a pastor in North Carolina and Tennessee, but Prows was a church planter in Monroe, Ohio. Prows is a graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served on the SBC Committee on Committees and currently serves as a trustee at Truett McConnell University. In his free time, he coaches middle school and high school basketball at Baker school and serves as a chaplain for the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. He is married to Jennifer and has two children.

Scott Shoffner is originally from Hickory, N.C. and just relocated to Orlando, Fla. At the age of 14, he received his calling to preach. In 2002 he completed a bachelor of science in applied communication and began his journey at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C., with a master of divinity in 2006 and a doctor of ministry in 2012. He began as a pulpit minister at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and by 2005 began a pastoral internship until his first senior pastor position in 2006. Since then, Shoffner has served as the senior pastor for 3 churches prior to coming to Downtown Baptist Orlando Church. Along with a rich history in missions, outreach, evangelism, and children/family ministry, God has given Shoffner a vision and passion for helping people meet Jesus, and each week he shares God’s word and its practical application for daily living.He and his son Ayden live in Orlando, Fla.
Florida pastors form state chapter of the Conservative Baptist Network
Immokalee, Fla. – Today the Conservative Baptist Network announces the launch of its Florida state chapter. With more states soon to launch, CBN continues to expand as a localized, grassroots effort.
Leading the Florida chapter as a lead state coordinator is Timothy Pigg, lead pastor of Fellowship Church in Immokalee and Ave Maria, Fla. Pigg currently serves as a member of the Florida Baptist Convention’s State Board of Missions and as a church planting trainer for the North American Mission Board. He is a three-time graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Pigg also serves on committees and boards for his local association.
