ANAHEIM, Cali. – During the Monday afternoon session of the annual Pastors’ Conference, pastors and guests gathered to hear nominations and elect a president for the 2023 Pastors’ Conference to be held in New Orleans, La. The annual conference is traditionally held before the Annual Meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Pastor Daniel Dickard of Friendly Avenue Baptist Church in Greensboro, N.C., secured the presidency by 82 votes. Dickard was nominated to the role by Jordan Easley, senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Cleveland, Tenn.

“He stands unwavering for the truth, preaching without compromise, the inerrancy of the Bible, the complementarian approach to gender and leadership, the exclusivity of Christ and the sanctity of life. He’s one of us.,” Easley said of Dickard.

According to their Annual Church Profile (ACP), Friendly Avenue has 601 members and gave $162,630 (just over 11%) of undesignated gifts to the Cooperative Program.

Voddie Baucham, dean of theology at African Christian University in Lusaka, Zambia and Conservative Baptist Network Steering Council member, was also nominated for the role by Jeff Schreve, pastor of First Baptist Church Texarkana in Texarkana, Tex.

Preceding the Annual Meeting, the Pastors’ Conference is not only designed to encourage pastors and guests with biblical preaching and worship but can also set the tone for the week.

“The Pastors’ Conference is an important part of the Southern Baptist annual gathering because it gives pastors and families a chance to be encouraged in their own hearts from God’s Word,” said Brad Jurkovich, pastor of First Baptist, Bossier City, La., and Conservative Baptist Network spokesman. “It renews their commitment to delivering Scripture courageously in our generation.”

Conservative Baptist Network leaders offered congratulations to Dickard via social media.

“Congratulations to Daniel Dickard on being elected president of the SBC Pastors’ Conference. Sharayah Colter and I are praying for you and Cassie as you embark in this new role. Daniel is a good friend and a great preacher. I’m excited to see how the Lord is using him.,” said Scott Colter, a Conservative Baptist Network leader.

Steering Council member Timothy Pigg said, “Congratulations, Daniel Dickard! … He is a faithful brother that will bring a strong lineup at the 2023 SBC PC.”

The 2023 Pastors’ Conference will meet June 11-12, 2023 in New Orleans, La.
