BOSSIER CITY— Following a widely-reported launch in February, the Conservative Baptist Network releases today a steering council of 48 pastors, laymen, and denominational leaders who represent and support the continually growing group of conservative Baptists. The diverse group includes multi-ethnic, multi-generational men and women from varied geographic regions of the United States who share an allegiance to Scripture and a desire to reach the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Among those named to the council are a past president of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), former Baptist entity presidents, current university presidents and administrators, a current state executive, the former governor of Arkansas, leaders of conservative Christian organizations, and officers of the SBC Executive Committee.

“We are so excited to share this steering council with our Network and broader Southern Baptist family,” Network spokesman Brad Jurkovich said. “We had so looked forward to sharing this at our launch event scheduled in Orlando at our SBC annual meeting. Even though that was cancelled, we are moving forward with tremendous enthusiasm, and we are thankful to have incredible pastors and leaders who are committed to helping us see positive change in our Southern Baptist Convention in order to continue to reach our world with the hope of Jesus and His sufficient Word.”

As of June 2020, thousands of Baptists and Baptist churches have joined the Network, many expressing their relief and gratitude for the birth of a group committed to upholding the biblical values and convictions that have long characterized the Southern Baptist Convention. The Network is receiving a constant influx of calls and emails from Baptists across the nation seeking ways in which they may help steer the Convention once again to a conservative position championing the inerrancy and sufficiency of Scripture. While the Conservative Resurgence of the late 20th century achieved what many thought impossible in redirecting the Convention away from liberalism and back to a strong commitment to the inerrancy of the Bible, a growing number of Baptists today agree the work must continue and the torch must be passed to a new generation committed not only to inerrancy but also to the sufficiency of Scripture.

With excitement and commitment to this task, hundreds of Baptists have begun signing up to attend several Network events slated for Fall 2020 in cities across the nation. Among those events currently accepting registration are:

The Network is pleased to partner with both Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Tennessee and Truett McConnell University in Georgia in bringing these Scripture-focused events to different parts of America.

As the Network continues to grow and expand its representation throughout SBC churches, the mission to extol Scripture as inerrant and sufficient and to reach the world with the saving message of Christ remains the chief aim and mission – a sentiment shared by each person comprising the Conservative Baptist Network steering council.  Please use the following link to view the Steering Council.
