BOSSIER CITY, La. — From the outset of the formation of the Conservative Baptist Network, our view has been that while there are multiple layers of concern regarding the road our Southern Baptist family is traveling, we readily affirm that there are many tremendous servants of the Lord who are committed to the sufficiency of the Bible and who are dedicated to seeing our denomination strong and ever ready to take the hope of Christ to the ends of the earth.

The goal of our Network is clear: The Conservative Baptist Network is a partnership of Southern Baptists where all generations are encouraged, equipped, and empowered to bring positive, biblical solutions that strengthen the SBC in an effort to fulfill the Great Commission and influence culture.

Our passion is to see our Southern Baptist family strengthened so that we can be unified in our efforts to fulfill the Great Commission and to influence our culture with the power of Jesus Christ. As Network partners, we are excited to see “Vision 2025” presented by Executive Committee President Dr. Ronnie Floyd. The vision he shared with the Executive Committee on Feb. 17 is compelling, bold, and positive. This five-year initiative to “reach every person with the Gospel in every town, every city, every state, and every nation” is one that we in the Conservative Baptist Network encourage every pastor and church to rally behind.

Additionally, we are grateful for the steps our Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee took on Feb. 18 on two specific fronts: First, the formation of a task force to review the work of the SBC Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission and any related effect the ERLC may have on the Cooperative Program; and second, the decision to allocate meeting space for the 2020 SBC Pastors’ Conference contingent upon acceptable changes being made to the current program. We agree with the Executive Committee that several aspects of the current Pastors’ Conference program “are sufficiently beyond the parameters of the faith and practice of Southern Baptists in accordance with The Baptist Faith and Message,” and we pray organizers will reconsider and amend plans by the adjusted March 30 deadline.

Churches and individuals in the Conservative Baptist Network continue to pray for our Executive Committee as they respond to Southern Baptist concerns and represent the desire of Southern Baptists to be vigilant in our biblical convictions and priorities.
